PLDT, Smart and IDC for Philippine ICT Leadership Convention 2016

As one of the contributors of this blog, I only choose the events I cover. If it's about ToyCon, movies, books, and travel I say yes. And one more, I say yes to events that feature gadgets and anything about technology. An example of which is PLDT, Smart and IDC for Philippine ICT Leadership Convention 2016 Event last June 20 to 21 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom Manila.

Hosted by PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business group of PLDT, they talked about “SMACS” (Social, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud and Security) – are reshaping the strategies of enterprises and organizations.  The convention provided these business leaders with in-depth information on the future of the digital enterprise and the breakthrough technologies that will prominently figure in their business. The Philippine ICT Leadership Convention will highlight the strategic challenges and opportunities that digital technologies present to Philippine companies. The convention helped enterprises make this shift and usher in a more digitally-empowered Philippines.

“The advent of new digital platforms has introduced disruptive technologies that are changing the way enterprises are interacting with consumers and the digital world. Through the convention, PLDT, along with industry leaders, will provide our insights to serve as a knowledge base for enterprises, enable them to take advantage of these disruptive technologies, and promote growth in their businesses,” said PLDT Executive Vice President and ePLDT CEO Eric R. Alberto.

GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY PHILIPPINES

GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY PHILIPPINES  was a huge success. The worldwide celebration of GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY was last June 11, 2016, from 7am to 11am at the 2nd Floor of FTX Fitness Exchange.

GWD   is   an   entirely   not-for-profit   day,   a   social   project   created   by volunteers dedicated to living well. The purpose of Global Wellness Day is to ask the question, even if for just one day, "How can I live a healthier and better life?", to direct the thoughts of both individuals and society towards “living well” and to raise awareness.

Global Wellness Day was established in Turkey as the “first” day dedicated to living well, and has now been accepted world-wide.  It is officially celebrated on the second Saturday of June every year in 7   continents.  This year  it was celebrated in 83   countries   with   86 ambassadors thus reflecting its success.

To  get   one   step   closer   towards   living   well,   let   our   manifesto   be   yourstarting point.   In order to make Wellness a lifestyle, Global Wellness Dayaims to adopt the following seven simple steps. What is important is not to implement all of the steps all at once, but to incorporate at least just a few ofthem into your daily life on a regular basis.

Aims of  GWD:

1. To recognize the value of our lives
2. To pause and think, even if for just one day of the year
3.  To be free from the stress of everyday city life and bad habits
4.  To make peace with ourselves
5.  To raise awareness about living well and increase motivation, not justfor today, but for the remaining 364 days of the year.

GWD 7 STEP MANIFESTO
1- Walk for an hour.
2- Drink more water.
3- Don’t use plastic bottles.
4- Eat organic foods.
5- Do a good deed.
6- Have a family dinner.
7- Sleep at 10:00 PM

GWD Philippines is also involved in the annual National Wellness Day festivities of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) on June 30 at the Mall of Asia, where member companies will exhibit and showcase their corporate wellness efforts.  They will also have various wellness speakers, health tests, and fitness classes for the general public to enjoy.

June as Lock&Lock “National Pa-Baon Month”

Starting my first post for this month with Global brand Lock&Lock as they declared June as Lock&Lock “National Pa-Baon Month”. The company will launch tips and recipes on preparing healthy baon choices that are easy to prepare via its Facebook page, Lock and Lock-Philippines; and Instagram, LockandLockPH. The company already introduced trendy Lunch Bags containing Lock&Lock food containers with the revolutionary 4-locking mechanism and resilient silicon seal. You can be sure that your child’s baon is kept fresh and safe longer without having to worry about any spillage. It is microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe too.

The campaign is timely and relevant for a student like me. I must say that we are actually users of Lock&Lock. I prefer having packed food or baon because I don't like waiting in long line in school canteen. I also like what my mom cook for me and my brothers.

Bringing baon is a tradition that is not commonly practiced anymore due to the fast-paced lifestyle we live in. It is more convenient for parents to give children money to buy food in school. The problem arises in the quality and nutritional content of the food they buy. Preparing baon takes effort, but it is a sacrifice that is worth it considering the dangers of unhealthy food choices on school children.   The 8th National Nutrition Survey of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) revealed that 9% of pre-school children aged 5-10 are overweight or obese. Among adolescents and teens 10-19 years old, the number is higher at 13%.  Overweight and obese children are more likely to stay obese into their adulthood and have a higher risk of developing diseases associated with obesity like Type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, various forms of cancer and other disorders at a younger age.
Lock&Lock invited Bento Mommas who gave us a demo on how to make bento. It was actually so fun because I won 2nd place (beating my mom who won 3rd place).

Mom's blogger friend won 1st place
