Federal Tires Helped Save Lives in Tacloban

The world heeded the call of the Philippines and staged a massive international relief effort to support the needs of more than 4 million people who were left with almost nothing when typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) hit the country last November 8, 2013.

Federal Tires is exclusively distributed by PPC Asia Corporation.  PPC Asia Corporation, one of the leaders in the automotive sector in the country, along with its international partner, Federal Tires, immediately rushed to Tacloban, Leyte to help in the distribution of food, water, medicines and emergency supplies.   Relief goods were distributed by representatives of PPC Asia, through the help of Barangay Councilor Louie Datimat who coordinated the mission at Barangay 60-E, one of the waterfront neighborhoods, which was completely wiped out by typhoon Yolanda.

Federal Tires, one of the largest tire suppliers in Taiwan and business partner of PPC Asia, extended their assistance in the  rehabilitation efforts in Tacloban by sending help. Dawu Chen, Federal Tires’ Worldwide Sales and Marketing Director, hopes that “our little contribution will help in the Philippines’ reconstruction,” and could encourage other enterprises to follow suit.

PPC Asia, in turn, handed a Plaque of Appreciation to Federal Tires, as a token of gratitude for their valuable help to the victims of typhoon Yolanda and their strong partnership with their Philippine counterpart. Typhoon Yolanda was the most powerful tropical cyclone that hit the Philippines which severely damaged the eastern part of the country, particularly Leyte and Samar. With its 270 kph sustained winds with gusts peaking at 312 kph, and storm surges reaching up to 21 feet high, it left 6, 201 dead, 27, 665 injured and 1, 785 missing.
