Advanced Insect Killer

At home my wife takes care of our children while I make sure that my family are protected from those insects that might harm our health like blood-sucking #mosquitoes, creepy-crawling #cockroaches and disease-spreading #flies.

Last week  a package arrived containing 2 cans of Advanced Insect Killer. I'm a Baygon user but my wife complains about its smell. Joy prefers to use Mortein.

After using Advanced Insect Killer, I didn't hear any complain from her because Advanced Insect Killer is truly odorless. It also killed insects instantly!

Chef Nikko Baking Demo

I've been quite busy with work for the past months that's why I lay low from covering events for this blog. But because cooking and baking is what I'm not good at, I make sure to attend events that will give me more knowledge in these two aspects.

Yesterday at The Maya Kitchen, Chef Nikko Buendia taught attendees how to bake Dulce De Leche and Japanese Cheesecake.

Success Mall Launched at The PBA Cafe

PBA Cafe in Metrowalk jampacked last night as Success Mall, newest online selling community that lets you earm, was launched.  Heading the event  was its founder, Success Coach John Calub and his partnerts and associates.

Success Mall (www.successmall.biz), the country’s first “WORD-OF-MOUSE” shopping community is a hybrid online marketplace and deal website that offers an array of local and international products and services at huge discounted prices with “FREE” delivery directly to your house.  But unlike other online shopping websites, Success Mall gives Filipinos an opportunity to start their own e-commerce business from home without the need to shell out any capital.  Simply register for a free account, shop at the website regularly and recommend the products and services to family members and friends through your social networks like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  Each time your referred community of shoppers buys at Success Mall, you and the referrers start sharing the earned rebate points that can be withdrawn in cash via banks all over the world through the Success Mall VISA debit card. Or you can use the same accumulated cash rebates to purchase again, which means that your own shopping expenses automatically get covered.

How does the website accomplish this?  Every new person that signs up in Success Mall is given a unique affiliate link that you simply share through social networks and SuccessMall’s affiliate system tracks exactly who becomes part of the community of shoppers under your wing.  After you have successfully invited them to register for free under your affiliate account, you’ll start earning cash rebates immediately from every purchase and repeat purchases of products and services of these people who are tagged under you. What this means to you is that you simply encourage other people to sign-up only once and you’ll earn from their repeat purchases for the rest of your life even while you’re sleeping!

We asked Success Mall founder John Calub how he came up with this billion dollar idea? According to Success Coach John Calub, “In my more than 10 years of teaching financial literacy and entrepreneurship workshops across the country and around the globe, I often teach that wealthy people earn through “PASSIVE INCOME” (i.e. income without working) as opposed to “ACTIVE INCOME”, the income of the poor.  Through SuccessMall, we can now offer an opportunity for Filipinos around the globe to start their own e-commerce business without capital, which at the same time gives them another source of passive income.”

On the other end, John Calub humbly shares “part of our company’s vision is not only to help consumers buy products affordably online and earn from referrals, Success Mall was created to help small and medium scale entrepreneurs (SME’s) promote their brand and sell their products to a global market faster, 24-hours a day,  through free “word-of-mouse” marketing.”

Our next question to John, what is the difference between “word-of-mouth” and “word-of-mouse” marketing?  “According to a survey by Nielsen, 91 percent of Filipinos trust “word-of-mouth” product and service recommendations by known family members and friends.  That’s really the key now to effective marketing. But with the rise of Internet marketing, it’s now less talk and more typing and sharing online through social networks. Thus we are using “word-of-mouse” marketing, which can easily allow us to make SuccessMall and all its products and services go viral to a global market in lightning like speed and in a more cost-effective way.  In short, today brands are no longer what companies say it is.  It is what consumers tell each other it is on the Internet.

Who is the team behind this very exciting Internet start-up?  John Calub assembled a team of seasoned entrepreneurs who run several very profitable businesses already.  John exclaims, “I believe that more than just financial capital, a strong advisory board is what makes or breaks any start-up. Our board of directors is composed of myself, Ms. Sarah Deloraya and Claudia Cui (Owners SPD Job Contracting and Consultancy Services) Attorney Boyet Tabao (Managing Partner of Westwood Law), Heddy Tabao (President, Klassic Marketing), Rowena Paragas (President of NYD International Placement Agency) and Michael Maranan (President of Windfreight Express Total Logistics, Incorporated).  We also have on our team millennial Internet marketing genius Carl Ocab (www.carlocab.com), whose success story was recently featured as part of the cover story of Forbes Asia magazine, as our global ambassador.

For merchants interested in getting their products and services, you may contact the merchant partnership department of Success Mall by calling 576-4079 or visit the merchant inquiry section at www.successmall.biz.

For those wanting to explore and engage in the profitable world of e-commerce, come over to the grand launching of Success Mall this June 24, 2017 (Saturday), 5 pm at the PBA Café, 2nd Floor, Metrowalk Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.  The grand launching shall be complemented by the launch of the “Search For Mr. and Ms. Internet 2017” a contest for millennial digital influencers who will eventually become ambassadors of Success Mall.  The evet will feature a technology fashion show featuring 20 gorgeous millenial male and female models plus performances from bands and other artists.  For updates, like us in Facebook at  www.facebook.com/successmallph.  Are you ready to shop, share and earn? SM Home

Press Release

SM Home recently revealed a series of tastefully beautiful interior design vignettes styled by some of the most creative talents in the Philippines.  Located in the SM Home section at The SM Store in Makati, the vignettes are a fitting grand launch for what will be a yearlong series of events from SM Home that will inspire you to, as the brand’s new tagline urges, “Complete your Home with SM Home.”

With an unbeatable reputation for offering the widest range of tasteful, quality home products at the best prices, this year SM Home raises the bar for home stores again.  “As great as it is to offer the widest range of home items, it in no way guarantees that our customers walk out of our stores with a clear idea of how they want to Complete their Homes, or even what to do with the items they have just purchased,” shares SM Home AVP for Marketing, Tom Castañeda.

“There is so much more to making a space functional and beautiful than just choosing and buying great individual items.  How items blend together and contribute to the aesthetics or the function of a space are just as important, if not more,” continues Tom “That is why this year, we’d like to help our customers get their creative juices flowing by exposing them to a lot of great design, and sharing practical design tips with them.”

Done in the fashionable Scandi-chic style, and almost exclusively with items available at SM Home, the vignettes are an eye-opening showcase of what is possible to do with even the simplest and most inexpensive items in the store, when one adds the elements of cohesion, balance, function, and a bit of creative flare.  For the vignettes, the designers were asked to design for a power couple between the ages of 28-34, who love travel, and photography, and who lead very active lives.

The dining room is done in the crisp, clean, deceptively spartan lines typical of Scandi-chic, a well thought out use of color and contrast creates a warm and cozy feel.  Designed by Nina Santamaria of Grupo Santamaria, the dining room is a perfect example of seemingly plain looking items coming together to create a beautiful, functional and inviting space.

Leaning towards the edgy side of modern, the living room vignette of Misty Floro and Pai Edles of Morfosis plays with unconventional furniture layouts, and uses accents such as an area rug to define space.  “The objective is to highlight the versatility of the living room and the countless possibilities a living room presents for a designer,” shares Misty Floro.  An interesting highlight of the space is the accent wall, which serves as an optical illusion that presents a different view from every angle.

Iriss Mangio of ILM Interiors designed the home office space in a style that was quite eclectic, combining bohemian elements, with retro-objects, while managing to make the space look both cohesive and new.  Iriss’ vision of a couple’s home office is a functional room that doubles as a relaxing space to just hang out in.  These seemingly contrasting ideas are achieved with the well thought out positioning of large functional pieces, and strategic arrangement of plants and accessories.

Angelo Siochi’s vignette of the couples’ bedroom is intimate, relaxing and a great canvas for adding personal touches.  Colors and accents, and décor combine for a room that is conducive to relaxation, but Angelo has provided ample space on shelves, walls and tables for the couple to add their personal touches.  “A designer’s job in designing a bedroom in not just to make a beautiful space, but to allow clients to personalize,” explains Angelo.

In a departure from typical showhouses, the kitchen space was styled by renowned pastry chef Miko Aspiras, in partnership with a local designer who helped bring his vision to life.  “It may not be so with other rooms, but in a kitchen form needs to follow function all the time, a beautiful space is worthless unless it performs its function well.  This is more true of a kitchen than any other space in a home,” explains Tom, “To create a great working kitchen requires extensive knowledge of how food is prepared, as well as experience in working in kitchens.  Pastries are particularly process intensive and precise, so Chef Miko really stood out as a logical choice,” he adds.

The designers were on hand for the grand launch of the vignettes, discussing their vision for the spaces, sharing their favorite items from SM Home, and sharing some very useful tips with the exhibit’s first guests.

Each designer selected items from SM Home as featured items, these items available at most SM Home branches through the month of July, while the vignettes are open for viewing at the SM Home Makati branch until July 31.

The vignettes are just the first of many similar activities that SM Home has planned for the year.
“SM Home wants to be more than a source for our customers,” shares Tom. “We want to be their partner in selecting the perfect pieces for their homes. And we hope to do that throughout the year with special events at our stores in Metro Manila, as well as key branches nationwide.”

About SM Home
SM Home is an affiliate of the country’s leader in retail industry – SM. It is a one-stop home shop for Storage and Organizers, Furniture, Kitchenware, Glassware, Linen, and Décor items for the modern home.

The company started out as SM Home Center in 1975. As SM preeminently grew to be the largest chain of department stores in the Philippines, Home Center likewise received an overwhelming response from its customers. Prompted by the need to create a separate team to manage and control its operations, it was then recognized as an affiliate of SM on April 6, 1992, officially named as Homeworld Shopping Corporation. Come 2014, due to emerging trends where Homeworld felt the need of leverage for its overall identity, it was re-branded as SM Home on August 1.
Today, SM Home is found in all SM department stores all over the country.

SUCCESS MALL

A new and better kind of online shop is now out in the Philippines, it is called Success Mall by Success Coach John Calub.

CPK PIZZA WARS

CPK Pizza Wars is an annual event by California Pizza Kitchen which is on its 3rd Year Run! Its  legacy and brand promise of a culinary  adventure  with  the  3rd  run  of  CPK  Pizza  Wars,  its  annual  in-house  Pizza  Chef competition.  “California  Pizza  Kitchen  has  distinguished  itself  as  a  pizza  authority  attributable  to  its  wide selection  of  innovative  and  artisanal  pizzas.  But  more  importantly,  the  secret  behind  the success of CPK here is, of course, the people behind it. Which is why, apart from showcasing the talents  of  our  pizza  chefs  who  are  equally  passionate  about  food  as  we  are,  we  wanted  to challenge  them  to  take  their  culinary  skill  set  to  new  heights.    And  sure  enough,  they  have proven  to be up to that challenge,” said Bob Vallar, Marketing Manager  of Global Restaurant Concepts, Inc. (GRCI).

Bob Vallar, Marketing Manager  of Global Restaurant Concepts, Inc. (GRCI).

The  competition  went  through  several  rounds of  heated competition, beginning with in-store elimination rounds. Each branch sent their own pizza champions to the semifinals, to compete with  each  other  for  the  approval  of  judges  Robert  Vallar,  Marketing  Manager  of  GRCI,  Chef Aldrin  Ortille,  GRCI  Executive  Chef,  and  KJ  Calsarin,  GRCI  Training  Manager.    Of  the  semi-finalists,  only  three  chefs  were  chosen  to  compete  in  the  final  round  of  competition.

The finalists were: Danny Fernandez of CPK  Greenbelt 5 with his original Thai Beef Pizza creation; Jay  Mar  dela  Paz  of  CPK  Promenade  Greenhills  with  his  colorful  Chicken  Banh  Mi  Pizza;  and Rommel Panaligan of CPK Alabang Town Center with his Garlic Cream Cheese Pizza.

“Aside from receiving a cash prize, the winning pizza will be featured in August 2017 as part of the 4th year Anniversary of our National Pizza Day. Eventually, it will be a mainstay in our new menu  for  roll-out  by  next  year,”  Vallar  adds.  “Win  or  lose,  we  will  continue  to  encourage  & nurture their passion for keeping the spirit of California creativity and adventure alive!”   For  more  information,  visit  www.cpk.com.ph,  follow  them  on  Facebook  &  Instagram @cpkphilippines,  or  visit  any  of  their  following  branches:  2nd  level  Alabang  Town  Center; Ground  Level  W  Global  Center,  BGC;  2nd  level  Greenbelt  5;  Ground  Level  Promenade  3, Greenhills; Ground Level SM Mall of Asia; Basement Level Century City Mall; and at the 2nd level Shangri-La Plaza Mall East Wing.   About California Pizza Kitchen In 1985, California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) opened its first restaurant in Beverly Hills and introduced diners  to  innovative  California-style  pizza.  Since  then,  CPK  has  launched  what  has  become  a global brand known for creative California cuisine. Today, CPK is approaching 300 restaurants in 16  countries  around  the  world.  Dedicated  to  a  unique  dining  experience,  CPK  is  now introducing  its  Next  Chapter  featuring  reimagined  menus,  open  kitchens,  and  unique renovations  in  all  restaurants  across  the  country. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1.  When did the CPK Pizza Wars start?  Pizza Wars started at CPK in the United States. Being the first location outside the US, it is only fitting  that  California  Pizza Kitchen  Philippines  is  the  first  international  franchise  to  carry  out this  Pizza  Chef  competition.  The  first Pizza  Wars  competition  in  the  Philippines  was  held  last June 2015.

2.  Are there any restrictions in terms of recipe or ingredients in their entries for Pizza Wars?  There are no restrictions as each contestant is encouraged to be innovative with their entries. However, it’s best if they can predominantly utilize some of the ingredients that are currently readily available in the restaurants while introducing  at least  one new  ingredient that will set them apart from the competition.

3.  What will the grand champion of Pizza Wars receive? The Pizza Wars winner will receive a Php 25,000 cash prize. Aside from this, the winning pizza will  be  featured  in  August  2017  as  part  of  California  Pizza  Kitchen’s  annual  celebration  of National Pizza Day. It will also be included in CPK Philippines’ new menu which will be launched by next year.  4.  How was the pizza chef representative selected per branch? There  were  in-store  elimination  rounds  wherein  two  representatives  per  branch  were selected. These two pizza chefs then presented their creations to their regular guests for taste testing. The winner of that round in each of the branches won the privilege to compete in the semi-finals and from there, the top three entries moved on to the final round.

Judges  Archie  Rodriguez  (CPK  President  &  Chief Executive  Officer)  and  Griffith  Go  (CPK  Chief  Financial  Officer),  joined  by  Celebrity  Chef  & Philippine  Culinary  Icon,  Sandy  Daza  and  Social  Media  Guru  &  Foodie  Extraordinaire  Spanky Enriquez.
