Herbalife Nutrition At Work Survey Reveals Filipino Millennials Desire Healthy, Active Workplace Environment

Herbalife Nutrition, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Millennials At Work Survey1, which revealed that Filipino millennials are adapting a healthy, active lifestyle, however, most believe their current workplace environment prevents them from doing so.

Millennials, or people born in between 1980 and 2000, are opting for a workplace that will encourage them to stay active, if only this will be embedded in every company culture.  About 83 percent or eight (8) in 10 millennials have agreed that they would like their company workplace to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.

With the millennial generation expected to make up 50 percent of the global workforce by 2020, ensuring the wellbeing of millennials will be important to improving workplace productivity. “There are about 35 million millennials now in the Philippines, which is about one-third of the country’s entire population. Five years from now, millennials will be dominating the labor force. While most millennials want to lead healthy lives, they face real obstacles at work in doing so,”

said Rosalio Valenzuela, Herbalife Philippines General Manager. “At Herbalife Nutrition, we provide our employees with nutrition products at work, subsidize gym memberships, hold regular wellness programs related to nutrition and well-being, and encourage participation in outdoor activities and sports competitions.”

Additionally, the survey findings revealed the following:

Seven (7) out of 10 millennials strive to live healthy, active lives
However, the majority of millennials find it challenging to maintain an active lifestyle at work – eight (8) out of 10 millennials spend 6 to 13 hours at their work desk each day, and 64% of millennials get less than 30 minutes of physical activity - including standing, stretching and walking at work on an average work day.
Additionally, 64% of millennials cited the “lack of time” as the key obstacle to engaging in physical activity at work.

To provide tips on how millennials and their employers can integrate positive nutrition and life style habits at their workplaces, Herbalife Nutrition has organized a sixth Asia Pacific Wellness Tour, which builds upon the successes of the past five tours that welcomed over 100, 000  participants. Five experts from the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) are scheduled to tour 21 Asian cities from October 7 to 30, to hold a series of talks, workshops and medical symposia across the region.

“Through these efforts, we hope to equip organizations and employees with the right tools to collectively build a healthier work environment across Asia Pacific,” said Valenzuela.

Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D., a member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, will be visiting Manila for the Asia Pacific Wellness Tour this October. Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D. will also be sharing expert advice on how millennials can adopt simple positive nutrition and lifestyle habits at work to improve their overall well-being in the long run.

Some of the tips to help foster a healthier millennial workforce include:

Nutrition

o Dedicate a healthy eating day each week and get colleagues involved in making healthy choices for lunch on this day.
o Boost water intake to help the body digest food, rid the body of toxins, and help deliver nutrients to the cells. Drink at least eight (8) glasses or two (2) liters of water a day.
o Have a protein shake combined with non-fat milk and healthy fruit for breakfast. With 20-30 grams of protein and low-fat contents, it can provide the body with all the nutrition it needs to power through the day.

Active Living

o Create a playlist that incorporates upbeat music and play with hourly intervals.
o Use Running Apps to keep energized and on-pace during regular runs.
o Set a goal to join running competitions to motivate self to sustain an active lifestyle.

1Herbalife’s Millennials At Work Survey was conducted in 2016, with 5,500 respondents aged 18 and above, from Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Rinnai Japan's

I'm guilty of not cooking often because I'm mostly out on a business and client meetings. I guess, I will have to start spending more time in the kitchen now as I won a table top cooking range at the Launch of Rinnai in SM Megamall.

Sharing with you the press release:

In today’s context, the value of a home-cooked meal still lies in the effort we spend preparing it and how that is tantamount to the care we serve to ones we love. Rinnai, the no. 1 appliance brand in Japan since 1920, seeks to elevate the way Filipino millennials prepare their meals with tabletop stoves, hobs, cooking ranges, and range hoods designed with the precise performance of Japanese technology.

A Culinary Upgrade

Rinnai’s impressive line of cooking appliances are made for Filipinos looking to invest in a full kitchen set-up or outfit a newly-purchased home. As a purveyor of high-end, technologically advanced, and visually-appealing kitchen equipment, Rinnai makes it possible for today’s culinary hopefuls to adopt the measured discipline professionals have with their cooking.

In addition, cooking with a Rinnai appliance adds a touch of sophistication to the way meals are prepared at home. “Rinnai’s innovation has me fully-equipped to serve my kids the meals they deserve,” says Celebrity Chef Rosebud Benitez. “The technology really makes the difference. Not only does it elevate my craft, it’s precision engineering makes working in the kitchen a breeze.” Rinnai appliances are made under the premise that even the simplest of dishes require precision.

Award-winning pâtissier Chef Miko Aspiras attests to both this and the kind of craftsmanship the Rinnai brand brings to the table. “Dessert-making is very visual. You delight people with the textures, the colors, even before they can respond to the taste,” Chef Miko explains. “Coming up with the exact plating requires measure and precision. Rinnai’s appliances help me do just that. Without it, I don’t think my creations would be that social media-worthy.”

Fire Up the Efficiency
More than a kitchen appliance brand, Rinnai delivers the precision required to cook meals crafted to exceed even the most discerning of tastes. “Rinnai Philippines is proud to introduce a whole new range of kitchen appliances that will prove to be essential in the Filipino household,” shares Mitsui Industria Corporation’s General Manager John Chuakaw. “All our products come with a slew of exciting features designed to bring ease, comfort, and convenience to the Filipino’s cooking practice.”

From table top stoves that use stainless steel burners, to built-in hobs made with heat-resistant tempered glass, Rinnai specializes in sturdy, durable, and innovative appliances that revolutionize cooking for the average millennial.

The hotplates are even sourced from the world’s finest as it is produced by renowned German electric heating component manufacturer, E.G.O. Moreover, Rinnai’s line of free-standing cooking range is fitted with Sabaf® burners, the world’s best in advanced burner technology. And to make things easier, the catalytic cavity of Rinnai ovens can absorb grease and even reduce odors.

Through Rinnai’s technology, standards are taken a notch higher, allowing people to enjoy more comfortable lifestyles, a commitment that SM Appliance also happens to uphold. "Through our presence at SM Appliance, the largest appliance retailer in the country, Rinnai is made readily accessible and available to more and more Filipinos," John adds.

In essence, a modern kitchen fitted with Rinnai appliances gives today’s millennial the ability to offer their families and friends a taste of something prepared with both passion and precision. “With Rinnai, all you need is creativity for your craft. As for the precision, Rinnai has got you covered,” ends John.

Kathryn Bernardo and Liza Soberano for AJI-NO-MOTO®

The kitchen used to be a scary place for young people and cooking was a daunting task reserved for mothers and household helps. But technology played a role in guiding people around the kitchen. Nowadays, new cooks search online for cooking videos or check out “food hacks” to be able to produce any dish they want that they can, in turn, show off on social media.

Young celebrities Kathryn Bernardo and Liza Soberano also enjoy cooking for their loved ones. They are the newest tandem to endorse AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning. Apart from what can be found in the Internet, Kathryn and Liza became more confident cooks because they can rely on a brand of seasoning to make delicious home-cooked dishes by bringing out the natural goodness of food. Experienced cooks or kitchen newbies can make AJI-NO-MOTO® their best friend in the kitchen – an ally in serving nourishing and enjoyable dishes for the whole family.

The new AJI-NO-MOTO® TV Commercial features three (3) dishes to show the versatility of the product in making all kinds of dishes delicious. Among the dishes are the Omurice, a Japanese-inspired meal composed of rice and omelet, Kathryn’s Adobong Puti recipe, a different take on the classic adobo without soy sauce and the all-time favorite comfort food Beef Nilaga.

AJI-NO-MOTO® can be widely used in a variety of dishes because it has no smell or specific flavor of its own and can therefore be used to enhance the original flavor of food. This is a safe and quality product that is made from natural crops like sugar cane, corn or cassava and manufactured through the natural process of fermentation. AJI-NO-MOTO® enhances taste of food by providing umami taste. Umami is the fifth basic taste also described as rich, savory and ‘malinamnam’ derived from food rich in glutamate like tomatoes, cheese, mushrooms, ham and seafood.
