Sun Cellular, The Good Choice in Postpaid

I just recently (about five months) switched to Sun Cellular Plan 600. I used to have a plan with other network for more than 20 years. I was not very happy because I get charges that I did not even use.

If you ask me, why Sun Cellular Plan 600 and Plan 999 is the good choice in postpaid? Well, because of its flexibility and no hidden charges policy.

RESORTS WORLD MANILA SIGNS FIVE-YEAR DEAL TO HOST US$750,000 ASIAN TOURNAMENT IN PHILIPPINES

Manila, April 20: Resorts World Manila, the only one-stop, nonstop tourism and entertainment destination in the country, has signed a landmark five-year agreement with the Asian Tour to title sponsor a new US$750,000 tournament in November, officials announced today.

The Resorts World Manila Masters will be held at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club from November 14 to 17, 2013 where all four rounds will be beamed live on the Asian Tour’s global television platform that reaches over 200 countries and 650 million homes.
The long-term partnership between Resorts World Manila and the Asian Tour, which is the official sanctioning body for professional golf in the region, is a massive boost for the development of the game in the Philippines and across Asia, especially with golf returning to the Olympic Games in 2016.
Resorts World Manila believes its first sponsorship foray on the Asian Tour will also showcase the Philippines to the eyes of the golfing world and boost the tourism sector.
Asia’s newest tournament is primed to attract the top stars from the Asian Tour along the likes of home heroes Angelo Que, Juvic Pagunsan and Frankie Minoza, all winners on the region’s premier Tour.
Resorts World Manila is also supporting the development of junior golf and sports in the Philippines.
“On behalf of Resorts World Manila, we are truly privileged to announce a momentous five-year agreement with the Asian Tour to host the Resorts World Manila Masters at Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in November,” said Resorts World Manila COO Steve Reilly.
“It is our privilege to host a truly world-class golf championship in the Philippines that will showcase the professional game at the highest level in the country,” Reilly added. Through the extensive television exposure, the Resorts World Manila Masters will undoubtedly promote the sports and tourism sectors of the Philippines.
“As this is a five-year agreement, we have every desire to grow the Resorts World Manila Masters into a sporting extravaganza that will entertain golf fans and television viewers from around the world. We want our event to be the golfing pride of the Philippines, hence the long-term agreement with the Asian Tour,” according to Reilly.
The Camp Aguinaldo Junior Golf Team, who are members of the JunGolf Foundation of the Philippines, were also present in today’s historic press launch of the Resorts World Manila Masters. The team, led by head coach and former Asian Tour member Carito Villaroman, won five gold medals in the recent True Vision International Golf Championship.
“We recognise the need for Resorts World Manila to fully support junior golf programmes in our country. With golf returning to the Olympics in three years’ time, we hope to play a role in ensuring that the Philippines will be represented in golf,” Reilly further added.
Asian Tour Executive Chairman Kyi Hla Han said the new partnership with Resorts World Manila was yet another positive development for the game in Asia. Two new events have already been held on the 2013 Asian Tour Schedule, with several other new tournaments to be announced in due course.
“On behalf of our players, I would like to extend our fullest gratitude to Resorts World Manila for its belief and confidence in the Asian Tour as we seek new and exciting playing opportunities for our highly talented membership,” said Han.
“This long-term agreement with one of the Philippines’ largest conglomerates is a wonderful endorsement for the Asian Tour and shows the confidence of the market place in our players and brand,” Han added.
“I am sure the Resorts World Manila Masters will create a very positive and meaningful impact for the game in the Philippines and across Asia. As all our tournaments offer Official World Golf Ranking points, the Resorts World Manila Masters will provide opportunities for players from the Philippines and across Asia to play their way to Rio De Janeiro.”

Bo's Coffee

As one of the top producers of coffee a long time ago, the Philippines has always had a rich and fascinating history with the famous brew.  Although we’ve long since lost our status as one of the world’s go-to countries for coffee due to the disease that nearly wiped out all our crops, there are still several proudly Filipino brands that aim to showcase the best of Philippine coffee.

With this in mind, homegrown brand Bo’s Coffee is inviting everyone to try out their Single Origin Arabica beans. Sourced from Benguet, Sagada, Mt. Matutum, and Mt. Kitanglad and roasted to perfection by artisan roasters, these coffee beans also reflect the vision of a brand that dreams of putting Philippine coffee back on the map. “The Philippine Origins product line is a celebration of the country’s culture and its great coffee,” Bo’s Coffee President and founder Steve Benitez said. “All of our beans underwent a rigorous cupping process in order to make sure that our customers will get only the best from us.”
What’s fascinating about these Single Origin Arabica beans is that it enables coffee lovers to get to know the featured places in a different way through its flavor profile. Sagada, for example, has a sweet, nutty, and well balanced taste, with hints of chocolate and fresh tobacco. Benguet, which is near Sagada, is also well balanced, with herbal notes. Mt. Matutum, which is located in Mindanao, features a berry-like and spicy taste, and Mt. Kitanglad, which is also in Mindanao, is perfect for coffee drinkers who are looking for something light and nutty, with a hint of floral undertones.
These Single Origin coffee beans are available at the following Bo’s Coffee branches: Bonifacio High Street, Glorietta 5, SM Mall of Asia, Newport, Galleria, SM North EDSA, NAIA1, Jupiter Makati, Solenad, and Megamall.

Aside from Philippine Origins, the brand is also looking to heighten its customers’ experience by providing a Pour Over demo in select branches. The Pour Over Method requires a steady hand, a brew bar, a V60 cone, a swan kettle, a weighing scale, and precise water and temperature measurements in order to produce a flavorful cup of coffee, and it is certainly a delight to watch.

“A lot of changes are happening very soon for Bo’s Coffee,” Benitez explained. “Although our Philippine Origins product line and demo are both only available in certain stores in Manila, we’re planning to make a lot of changes in order to further improve everyone’s in-store experience.”
Bo’s Coffee is a proudly homegrown specialty coffee brand, and since 1996, it has grown to include around 56 outlets strategically located in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Iloilo, Bohol and Tacloban. For more information, visit www.boscoffee.com

A Caravan of Hope: World Glaucoma Week 2013

Glaucoma is slowly blinding Filipinos everyday and it’s not leaving without pain or duress. With World Glaucoma Week coming in, the time is right for doctors and patients alike to fight the disease.
The Philippine Glaucoma Society (PGS) is bringing in the best activities and events to the Filipinos as it sparks the beginning of a world without Glaucoma.
“Glaucoma is a grave condition that requires everyone’s attention. World Glaucoma Week is just the beginning of a series of events that we hope will spread awareness to all Filipinos nationwide that early detection is the only way to stop Glaucoma in its tracks. The way to the light begins today,” said PGS president, Dr. Jose Ma. Martinez.
Glaucoma is an eye disease that gradually steals vision. It damages the optic nerve, which is the nerve that delivers information from the eye to the brain. Damage to the optic nerve shrinks the visual field and eventually causes blindness. In some cases of glaucoma, patients experience eye pain, blurred vision, eye redness, headache, vomiting and seeing rainbows around the eyes.
It shows no symptoms and comes without a warning, which is why PGS advocates for the early detection of glaucoma in patients.
Glaucoma can come at any age but is mostly inherent in older in the elderly. Those with eye pressure, family history of glaucoma, age beyond 45, previous eye injury, chronic steroid use, diabetes mellitus, and Asian descent are the risks factors that increases the chances of a patient in developing glaucoma.
The Philippine Glaucoma Society is slating surgical caravans, Facebook photo contests, mall events, and sponsorships of glaucoma procedures and surgeries in indigent patients nationwide. The surgeries will be held simultaneously in Manila, Davao, and Cebu.
PGS is conducting these events in light of the need to spread awareness of a disease that has been plaguing the Filipinos for years. The PGS is aware that to get rid of Glaucoma forever, it must be at the forefront of teaching people about it. The PGS Foundation will work hand-in-hand with government hospitals and private organizations.
We look forward to seeing the future without Glaucoma darkening our lives. It begins now in World Glaucoma Week,” said Dr. Jose Ma. Martinez.

The Pain Behind an Imperfect Smile

Pain finds roots in even the most remote parts of our lives. It takes on many forms but one thing is clear. It is beyond anybody if no help comes.

Pain is behind every imperfect smile as kids with cleft lips and palates face a childhood so different from what they truly deserve.

They are taunted and teased for the way they look. They are shunned from the playground and at school. Never will they experience a normal childhood without surgical intervention. They are scarred for life. They will forever live with and imperfect smile.

Sad it may seem, there is something we can do to help these children.

Operation Smile has been helping children and young adults around the world get rid of the scars of facial deformities like a cleft palate or lip. Worldwide, it has helped 200,000 children. Operation Smile is in over 60 countries including Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Peru, Russia, Venezuela, Vietnam and the Philippines, which is where the organization was founded 30 years ago.

In the Philippines, one in every 500 babies born every year has a cleft lip or palate. This means that 2,064 million out of the 4,004 children born every year do not have the chops to smile the way regular children could. Operation Smile healed the pain of over 24,000 kids by perfecting their smiles.

Perfecting the smile involves not only the surgical intervention to repair the cleft lip and palate. To perfect the smile, the healing must be taken a step further by erasing the marks or scars from surgery with innovative products like Dermatix Ultra.

Dermatix Ultra is the scar expert formulated with innovative CPX (cyclopentasiloane) technology, which can flatten and soften scars while providing Vitamin C for photoprotection and skin lightening.

Dermatix is the scar formula recommended by plastic surgeons. It is easy to apply and is safe to use even for children. It also has excellent cosmetic properties that lighten the scar and make it smooth.

So there is hope. With partnerships like Operation Smile Philippines and Dermatix Ultra, pain like theirs can be erased. Together, the scars left by a cleft lip or palate will be a thing of the past.

Lancel’s Spring Summer 2013

LANCEL’s Canaille: A Cunning, Charming Carry-all

Lancel’s latest offering for Spring Summer 2013 is the Canaille. French for “rogue”, Canaille (pronounced kəˈnÄ« or “cunnigh”) is a cunning hobo that lives up to its name. Its deceptively simple silhouette belies many unconventional, discreet details: 2 hidden magnet side pockets on the outside; 2 separate spacious compartments with reverse double zips; interiors lined with luxurious microfiber suede; and a flat pocket, a phone pocket and a zipped pocket inside.

The multiple compartments and pockets make for easy organization for women who carry their lives in their bags. Moreover, the Canaille is made of unique, exceptionally supple grained young bull leather from the plateau of Bythinia (ancient region of Turkey) in the Black Sea region. So in spite of its generous proportions, this bag is surprisingly soft and lightweight, with a wide shoulder strap for extra comfort.

The Canaille was considerately crafted by Lancel for women who prefer such a streamlined, practical carry-all, but with little thoughtful touches that let it stand out, like the bag charm with the distinctive Lancel double L featured on the strap, the signature Lancel tassels/pompoms, or the clever reverse zippers which make the bag ergonomic for even left-handed ladies.
In elegant, easy-to-wear colors of black, ivory, saffron and stone, the Canaille is certainly a most charming addition to Lancel’s Spring Summer 2013 collection,

L de Lancel: A Bag for Elles

Elles are French women, Parisian women and – more generally – all women blessed with natural chic, with effortless elegance, with style. To them, Lancel dedicates the L. From now on, the Maison has decided to devote itself to women like this – Lancel’s heroines: Parisian icons, women of the world, women of sparkling wit. With the L, the Maison of fine leather goods – founded in 1876 – pays tribute to an attitude, to a way of being chic.

The L is intended for women who are sensual without overdoing it, reserved as opposed to shy, spiritual rather than intellectual, neo-classical yet deceptively well-behaved: women who require nothing – or rather, almost nothing – to be elegant.
That almost nothing is the hallmark of the L. But achieving it is a complex process. The L is a study in less-is-more, whose subtlety resides in the refinement of the work which brought it into being. Its origins lie in the understated chic of a vintage 1970’s model from the Maison’s archives. At that time, the fashion was for simple bags with a timeless functionality. It has provided Lancel with an ideal foundation to display the leather working savoir-faire, high quality leathers and purity of design which epitomize the Maison. Today, this neoclassical spirit is represented by Lancel’s new model, the L: a large size bag which encapsulates the Maison’s new direction.
With the L, there is less decoration, fewer accessories and no jewelry. Nothing but the discrete emblem of two L-shaped metal clasps.
The L evokes legendary Parisian figures like Anouk Aimée in Claude Lelouch’s 1966 film A Man and a Woman, or the timeless style of Jackie Kennedy. Jacqueline Bisset and Charlotte Rampling are further incarnations of the distinctly Parisian femininity to which Lancel pays homage.
The L ushers in a new era for the Maison: a return to the essentials, to the foundations of the style incarnated by these icons of elegance, to a distinctly Parisian sense of chic.
The L is crafted in calf’s leather from the best Italian tanneries: its quality is another sign of the desire to set new standards.
A movable interior pocket is part of its DNA, but it remains a secret detail, known only to the woman who wears it. For what distinguishes the L is its discretion. Like the clean lines and impeccable drape of a perfectly cut evening jacket, it is an affair of invisible details. This understated luxury has already made the L a cult object. Lancel: 6 letters that define a new sense of luxury and the subtle charm of today’s bourgeoisie. The small L is more compact, more insolent, yet retains all the preppy charm of its sister model. With its strap fully extended, it exudes a uniquely 1970’s style. As on the larger model, its flap has L-shaped metal clasps at each corner, subtly denoting its Lancel pedigree. With a shortened strap, the small L may be worn on the shoulder, beneath the arm. It too contains a movable pocket, enabling essential items to be kept apart. Its workmanship and fine leathers conform to the same high standards. Like the larger model, it is lined with microsuede. The small L will also be available in precious leather versions. The large size XL exists in a several leathers and colours. Crafted from richly textured smooth calf’s leather – processed at the finest Italian tanneries and bathed in a deep dye –the large size is graced with a timeless elegance, a style both smart and serene. The Lancel signature is suggested by the unique discretion of simple L-shaped metal clasps – a far cry from logos and monograms. It is thus in keeping with the new spirit of the Maison of fine leather goods: luxury that speaks in a whisper.

Inspired by a 1970s vintage Lancel piece, the French Attitude encapsulates the timeless elegance that defines the Maison, as well as the always alluring spirit of French style.

The simple satchel from the 70s is revitalized with a touch of boho chic: smooth, eye-catching two-tone leather from a tannery in Tuscany; a unique hook clasp to secure the contents of the bag; a removable long strap for versatility and ease; and a flap in trompe l’oeil revealing meticulous craftsmanship in the saddler stitching of the seams.

In classic colors of black and pepper, the French Attitude is perfect for women on the go, who look effortlessly stylish in spite of their active lifestyles. The feisty yet refined bag evokes images of young, smart Parisiennes, whether strolling leisurely by the banks of the Seine or dashing past the shops along the Champs Elysees. This innate, carefree confidence is exactly what French Attitude is all about, and lives on in Lancel.

All bags are exclusively available at Lancel’s boutique in Shangri-la Plaza.

Carribean Flip Flops

I'm supposed to attend another event but my nephew was not able to take a leave from work so I covered for him. The event is all about Caribbean's Urban Safari Summer Collection.

I'm fairly familiar with Carribean flip flops unlike most of the Bloggers who attended Caribbean's Summer Collection preview yesterday at Red Mango because I own two pairs. I know that the price is super affordable and the designs are great. What I didn't know are the facts given to us during the event:

Caribbean is available in SM Malls, Landmark and other major malls.  See more of Caribbean's Urban Safari Summer Collection at their Caribbean's FB Page.
